The Wrong-Tomb Theory

This theory supposes that the women went to the wrong tomb on the morning of the resurrection, even though the text clearly shows them at the correct tomb during the burial (Matthew 27:61; Mark 15:47). This theory not only casts the women as morons, it portrays much of the city’s populace in an equally bad light for believing that a resurrection had occurred based on such an error. This hypothesis also assumes that the lives of the apostles would dramatically change, and that the Christian church would grow and thrive for the next two thousand years based on a complete lack of evidence. You can be sure that had such a mistake been made, the world’s most extensive tomb search would have been ordered by the chief priests, who desperately needed the body as proof that there was no resurrection. Of course, there’s no historical evidence that any of this occurred.
